Tip #10

Website Tip

Make sure you consider accessibility

It's not just physical shops and company premises that have to provide accessibility, your website needs to too.

Visually-impaired internet users can use a screen reader to translate the contents of web pages using speech synthesisers or Braille displays.

The user will struggle to understand web pages if, for example, images are displayed on the page without a text alternative. In HTML, alt attributes should be added to all image tags.

This is just one of many examples, so when hiring a web designer make sure their designs are compliant. More in-depth information is available on the out-law.com website, and there will be more on what to ask your potential web designer in the coming weeks.
