Tip #2

Web

Optimise images for the web

You've taken some photos of your product(s), team etc, but don't forget to make sure they're optimised for the web.

DPI (Dots per inch) or PPI (Pixels Per Inch) - This refers to the density of pixels in a digital image. For print quality images, 300 DPI is required, but for the web you only need this set to 72. Even at the same resolution you'll be amazed how much smaller the file size is, which in turn means it will load a lot quicker on the page.

Resolution - Pixel width by pixel height. A full resolution image may be 5000 x 2000 pixels. 1920 x 1080 is the resolution for an HD background, so for page content your images don't need to be any bigger than 800 pixels along the longest side.

Don't forget to fill in your Alt and Title values too, as these are read by search engines & screen readers. They also provide information when a visitor's browser cannot display the image.

Optimised images = Faster page loading = Better user experience
