Helpful tips to get the most out of your website & social media
Tip #20
Make sure your Twitter pictures are optimised
Part of the initial set up of a Twitter account should be adding your profile photo (You'll struggle to be taken seriously if you're still displaying that egg) and a header photo.
Over the last few years the optimal sizes for both of these have changed more than once, so if you haven't updated them for years, or aren't sure if they're correctly sized, it's worth checking.
Image Type
Optimal Resolution (in pixels)
Header Image
1500px x 500px
Profile Image
400px x 400px
Shared Image
1024px x 512px
In-stream image preview
220px x 440px
By optimising your images using the above sizes they will display without any squashing or distortion across desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones and wearables, which looks far more professional than a low resolution or distorted image.
