Minimalist Navigation

Influenced by the need to condense menus to fit on mobile devices, stripped down navigation menus are certainly growing in popularity.

Many sites feature 'hamburger' menu icons so that the menu is initially hidden and revealed when clicked on, though there is still debate on whether this should only be used on mobile.

Many sites use navigation that shrinks as you scroll down, uses icons rather than lengthy amounts of text, and slide in menus. We're also seeing a lot let of the dropdown submenus (except for on Department store and clothing websites) which can be detrimental to the user experience on mobile.
