According to GOV.UK 81% of large organisations and 60% of small businesses had a security breach in 2014.
While not all security breaches will result in loss or theft of data, figures released by The Information Commissioner's Office show a 220.95% rise in data breaches since 2011! The average cost to a large organisation is £600k - £1.15 million, and £65k - £115k for small businesses, both of which have almost doubled in the last year.
